The Peninsula Tango Society's

Tango Art Project

Many of you know Guillermo Alio and his art projects from his visit of the Bay Area 1 1/2 years ago. The Peninsula Tango Society honors him and his art by adopting his method of painting on large canvases with paint on the feet while dancing tango. We have several couples performing this act. More information about Mr. Alio and his art work can be found on his web page. Mr. Alio has endorsed this project. To give you a feeling of how the canvases might look like see these two pictures showing feet while painting and the resulting canvas.

We had two performances so far:

A co-production of the Peninsula Tango Society and MuyBueno.net which took place at the San Jose Museum of Art in September 2001.

and a I LOVE NY - ART BENEFIT which took place in November 2001 in the Yerba Buena Gardens, San Francisco, for support of the charitable Robin Hood Foundation of New York

We have prepared 3 movies of the San Jose event which feature 3 different couples. These movies can be viewed with Apple's Quicktime Software which can be freely downloaded for MACs and PCs. They are about 4MB each, so it takes a while to download, but it is truly worth it.

Movie 1
Movie 2
Movie 3
